  • Train tickets can be purchased from the ticket offices or machines. Always ask for a ticket to your final destinations.
  • Students and the over 55s may be able to obtain a discount price if you have ID with you such as a passport.
  • Train tickets may be scanned by machine at points during your journey so do look after your train ticket. Inspectors also check them on trains. People travelling without tickets are fined.
  • Credit cards are frequently accepted in ticket machines and for telephone and Internet connections.
  • Travel cards in London also apply to London buses.
  • Large railway stations will have refreshments but smaller ones are unlikely to
  • You usually have to pay to use toilets in railway stations.
  • There are toilets on almost all trains except Underground Trains
  • Even in England it is best to carry some emergency toilet paper in case there is none.
